Maintenance Notes
If you notice your toilet constantly running—or worse, overflowing—there’s a quick and easy way to take control before things get out of hand. Look for the silver metal shut-off valve located at the base of the toilet (usually on the wall or floor behind it). Turn this valve clockwise to stop the flow of water immediately.
Once the water is off, clean up any water (if needed) to avoid slipping hazards or water damage, and call Maintenance right away so we can help resolve the issue properly.
💡 Additional Toilet Tips
Know Where the Shut-Off Valve Is
Take a moment today to locate the shut-off valve near your toilet—before an emergency happens. Knowing where it is ahead of time can save you from water damage and stress.Don't Ignore a Constantly Running Toilet
If your toilet runs continuously, it could be wasting gallons of water daily—driving up utility costs and signaling a worn-out flapper or valve issue. Report it to Maintenance so we can make a quick fix.Avoid Flushing Non-Flushables
Only flush toilet paper. Wipes, paper towels, feminine hygiene products, and other items should never go down the toilet—they can clog your pipes and the entire building's system.Check for Leaks Occasionally
Look around the base of your toilet and at the hose connections for any small leaks. A slow drip may seem harmless but can cause long-term water damage and mold.Report Overflowing or Backed-Up Toilets Immediately
Even a minor backup can lead to a major mess. If your toilet is overflowing or won’t flush properly after multiple attempts, shut off the water and call Maintenance right away—we’re here to help.
